Shinji Nakaba – body

“When I first discovered Symbolism, it was a shock to me to find such poetic and insightful way of painting in a figurative form, which gave me a sense of both purity and decadence. My main interest now is finding ways to modernize the beauty of the past and connect it to the future…. I think beauty is the thing most needed to address various obstacles such as the economy, the division of humanity, and to better coexist with the earth. …. I have often been moved by works of art. However, I think the real inspiration comes when a society or economic system is faced with a wall blocking it in all directions, and it occurs to you that there is another step waiting for you on the other side and you break through the wall . It is beauty that gives us that suggestion” – Shinji Nakaba

Lives and works in Japan
Shinji Nakaba, with extraordinary creativity and manual dexterity, transforms any material, from the most precious to the simplest, from gold to the old plastic spoon, to pieces of iron, small twisted pearls, old shells, into a dreamlike jewel.
